Over the years I’ve collected numerous tarot cards and oracle cards. I’m drawn to picking from different sets depending on what’s happening, or what I want the message for.
Some have rituals attached, or affirmations to do after picking that card others don’t.
Cards are a good tool to help you receive message from “the universe”, your guides and loved ones.
Sometimes we think something or dream it or experience it in meditation and then we question ourselves putting it down to wishful thinking, using tools like oracle cards can help to take out some of the thoughts of oh it’s just my imagination”. They won’t give you an exact answer but perhaps you need to consider your question or situation from another point of view?
How do I use oracle cards.
Different cards suggest different methods and you may have your own preference but this is how I would start to use the oracles.
Prepare yourself: I ground myself (feeling connected to the ground) and ask for guidance. I visualise a white light that surrounds me for protection.
The question and the cards: While thinking about the question or the situation or reason why I want the card (for example, sometimes I pick one to meditate with, or see what work needs to be done) I shuffle the pack.
Selecting the cards: I usually draw a card from within the pack. (Occasionally some will jump out while shuffling I usually put them on the side and look at them too).
Look at the card and the illustration: Sometimes they provide you clues as to the meaning of the card.
Read the guidebook : there is usually a book to explain the message behind each card.
Meditate on the card sometimes the meaning of the card and your personal mediation message are different, that’s not a problem both are valid and both important information for you. Remember the person who wrote the guidebook was using their interpretations of the message, it may means something else to you.
Ask yourself how do I feel about this card / this message. Do it answer my question? If not you may want to pick more cards or just let the information you
A Card Reading:
So this week I thought I’d try something different. I chose The Wisdom of Avalon Oracle Card by Collette Baron-Reid.
I asked for a card to inspire this post. And the card I chose was no. 22 The Deer.
The oracles guidebook says:
When the deer appears it’s a reminder for you to step gently on the path, for you’re walking into a time when gentle movements and diplomacy are required.
The Deer’s strength is in the quality. Make it your own and know that your steps are successfully assured.
It’s important that you be gentle with yourself as well, for you may be heading into period where you’re unsure of your footing, or just coming out of a difficult situation.
Blend your personal energy with the deer’s energy of gentleness and diplomacy, walk softly and the way forward will be smooth and remember never mistake gentleness for weakness in yourself or others.

My interpretation:
I asked for a message for anyone reading this.
We’ve been going through some very powerful energy the last few months, you may have felt more tired than normal one day, then buzzing with energy the next. Everyone is going through these energies some feel it more than others. But the Earth and the people on it are changing.
After some very strong energy we need to be kind to ourselves and to others.
I was reminded that deer are gentle quiet creatures who go about their daily life. But remember the Stags are still there among the herd. Their antlers used to fight or protect and not forgetting to attract their partners.
Be gentle as you go, be gentle to the earth, be gentle to other and be gentle to yourself.
Do you have a set of cards?, do you ever use them for yourself?, please let me know in the comments below or on the Facebook page.
